Research description

My research focuses on understanding the metabolism of several organs, particularly the heart. By utilizing state-of-the-art PET techniques, we are able to assess changes in substrate utilization, oxygen consumption, and perfusion in target organs during interventions aimed at perturbing the normal substrate homeostasis. Specifically, during my PhD, I conducted research on the effects of a ketogenic diet on the heart and whole-body insulin sensitivity, and during my Postdoc, I will assess the ability of skeletal muscle to directly take up galactose.
