Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus is consolidating as one of the world’s leading research environments in clinical diabetes research in collaboration with Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus University, the other Steno Diabetes Centers and other Danish and International research environments.
The establishment of Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus provides an opportunity to take diabetes research to the next level, contributing to the consolidation and promotion of Denmark's position in the international elite in clinical diabetes research.
In this way, Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus will play a pivotal role in diabetes research focused on new efforts in treatment and prevention.
Bringing innovative, patient-centred care to people with diabetes
Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus is designed to be an innovative diabetes outpatient centre, generating specialized knowledge and putting individuals with diabetes at the heart of all its activities. The aim is to develop and disseminate new treatment and prevention methods, and ultimately slow the growth and progression of diabetes in the region.
Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus opened in 2018 and is situated in the heart of Aarhus University Hospital in the new Forum-building.
The Novo Nordisk Foundation has committed up to DKK 1.4 billion (€188 million) for Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus. The funding period runs until 2027, with a possible extension thereafter.
