Research title and description

  • Metabolic effects of ketone bodies in patients with diabetes. The focus of my research is the metabolic effects and pharmaceutical potential of ketone bodies in patients with diabetes. Ketones may be a beneficial treatment as a nutritional supplement in patients with type 2 diabetes. Moreover, ketone bodies are involved in the pathophysiology of diabetic ketoacidosis in patients with type 1 diabetes. Further knowledge about regulatory targets involved in diabetic ketoacidosis is needed in order to understand the disease and optimize treatment regimes.
