The effect of non-caloric soft drinks on dementia and stroke in patients with and without type 2 diabetes
I investigate whether consumption of non-caloric soft drinks influences the long-term risk of dementia and stroke in individuals with and without type 2 diabetes. Artificially sweetened beverages are widely recommended as alternatives to sugar-sweetened drinks, particularly for people with diabetes.
However, their long-term neurological consequences remain uncertain. Type 2 diabetes is a strong risk factor for both dementia and stroke, and dietary habits play a central role in metabolic and vascular health. Therefore, understanding whether non-caloric soft drinks represent a safe long-termalternative is important for future dietary recommendations and diabetes care.
