Research titel and description
Optimizing Self-Management in Type 2 Diabetes: The Role of High Intensity Interval Training in Enhancing Health Outcomes
I investigate how municipal diabetes self-management programmes (DSMPs) can be optimized with physical activity to increase their accessibility, effectiveness, and appeal for people with type 2 diabetes.
The project consists of three studies:
- A randomized controlled trial examining the effects of DSMPs with and without high-intensity interval training on physical activity and health outcomes.
- A qualitative study exploring how individuals decide whether to participate in high-intensity training.
- A register- and survey-based study mapping participation in DSMPs and identifying differences between participants and non-participants.
Together, these studies will inform future models for DSMPs at the regional level.
