Research titel and description
Obesity and Cancer
Obesity affects 16% of adults globally, increasing the risk of at least 15 cancer types and leading to poorer outcomes. People with obesity, especially from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, attend cancer screenings less and are diagnosed later.
This project is divided into three work packages (WP). WP1 and WP2 will use register-based data from the Health in Central Denmark (HICD) cohort to investigate the impact of obesity and social inequality on cancer screening participation and the timing of cancer diagnosis, respectively.
WP3 consist of workshops, where people with obesity and healthcare providers are invited to co-create preventive strategies to communicate obesity and cancer risk in a primary care setting. The goal is to improve healthcare practices and cancer prevention.
