Pathways to Equitable Oral Health: Addressing Barriers in Dental Service Utilisation for Danes with Type 2 Diabetes.
Description:
I investigate the factors influencing dental care utilisation among individuals with type 2 diabetes in Denmark.
People with diabetes often experience poor oral health, especially periodontal disease, but face barriers to dental care, such as lack of awareness, financial constraints, and lower socioeconomic status. These barriers may lead to higher out-of-pocket costs, fewer dental visits, and poorer oral health and blood sugar control.
By examining these disparities, my research aims to inform policies and interventions that improve access to dental care, reduce health inequities, and enhance the oral health and wellbeing of individuals with type 2 diabetes.
