Project

Allogenic mesenchymal stem cell intraarticular injection for knee osteoarthritis therapy, an RCT explorative mode-of-action study

Description

In this double blinded randomised placebo controlled clinical medicinal trial we want to investigate the clinical impact of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) in patients with mild-moderate knee osteoarthritis. The included patients are also regulated type II diabetic patient with knee osteoarthritis.

After intraarticular knee injection we follow the patients for two years to observe the MSCs improving effects on knee pain and functionality and to detect any cartilage regeneration.

Before treatment all participants are also screened with a Hba1C blood sample with the aim to explore if glycemic control affects treatment outcome.
