REVIVE MUSCLE - Reviving Muscle Function: Exploring the Role of Fibro-Adipogenic Progenitors in Muscle Regeneration and Heart Failure-Induced Muscle Wasting and Inflammation
Skeletal muscle is essential for both physical function and metabolic health, including glucose uptake and insulin sensitivity. During aging, disease, and muscle injury, dysfunctional inflammation within skeletal muscle can impair regeneration and promote muscle wasting.
I investigate how a specific population of muscle-resident cells, fibro-adipogenic progenitor cells (FAPs), shape the immune environment during muscle injury and disease, and how alterations in FAP function contribute to chronic inflammation, tissue degeneration, and impaired muscle regeneration.
