Is Empagliflozin increasing Cardiorenal Ketone Metabolism in Persons with Type 2 Diabetes? – A Crossover Trial
I investigate changes in cardiorenal ketone-metabolism during treatment with SGLT2 inhibitors, in high-risk patients with type two diabetes.
An increase in cardiorenal ketone metabolism may contribute to the markedly protective properties of SGLT2-inhibitors on the heart and kidney.
Understanding the positive metabolic effects of SGLT2-inhibitors on the heart and kidney is important for future treatment and prevention of cardiorenal complications in relation to type two diabetes.
