Advanced Genome Technologies for Biomedical and Clinical Research
Summary: Recent breakthroughs have been made in the field of genome technologies, including methods for single-cell and spatially resolved RNA sequencing. In this Steno lecture, I will present an overview of these technologies and how these technologies can be used for biomedical and clinical research. I will also present a recent initiative of the Stenomics CORE facility, which provides technical and scientific supports to scientists interested in these technologies.

Using human genetics to study the cellular biology of atherosclerotic vascular disease
Summary: In this talk, I will discuss how causal vascular disease genes influence the cellular biology of the atherosclerotic lesion. I will focus on our characterization of endothelial cell phenotypic modulation, and how the causal gene TWIST1 modifies this process to alter disease risk. I will also discuss our efforts to better understand how smooth muscle cells contribute to the lesion.
