Effect of colchicine on cardiovascular target organ damage in patients with type 2 diabetes. I investigate the effect of the anti-inflammatory drug colchicine on measures of cardiovascular disease in people with type 2 diabetes. This drug has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with and without diabetes, but the mechanisms are unknown. Insight to the mechanisms of anti-inflammatory drugs may help improve prevention of cardiovascular complications of diabetes in the future.
