The Metabolic Effects of β-hydroxybutyrate on Working Skeletal Muscle. I investigate how ketone bodies change the metabolism and function of working skeletal muscle in both young and elderly subjects. Age is a strong predictor of type 2 diabetes and muscular insulin resistance. Therefore, the effects of age on muscular metabolism is important for the development and treatment of type 2 diabetes.
